![]() ![]() It was only an in-vitro study meaning that it was done on cell cultures and not on real people, but still, this also does not support the use of AP too much. Third, another study that wanted to examine the antioxidant properties of AP was surprised to find that even though AP does have nice antioxidant properties following UVB radiation (the same one that comes from the sun) it also promotes lipid peroxidation and cytotoxicity. We are highly skeptical what effect a tiny amount of AP has in a formula. Even if it can be converted, the palmitate part of the molecule is more than the half of it, so the efficacy will not be good and we have never seen a serum that contains a decent (and proudly disclosed) amount of AP. ![]() This does not mean that ascorbyl palmitate cannot penetrate the skin (because it can, it's oil soluble and the skin likes to absorb oil soluble things) but this means that it's questionable if ascorbyl palmitate can be converted into pure Vit C in the skin. ![]() Second, a study that examined the skin absorption of vitamin C found that ascorbyl palmitate did not increase the skin levels of AA. A great study in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology compared a bunch of vitamin C derivatives and this derivative was the only one where the study said in terms of stability that it's "similar to AA". Also, with more affordable options on the market, even in the high-end range, this isn’t really a must-have in 2019.Ruscus Aculeatus Extract / Ruscus Aculeatus Root Extractįirstly, it's stability is only similar to that of pure ascorbic acid (AA), which means it is not really stable. Maybe in 2012 this foundation was the “it” foundation, as models and actresses bragged about how they loved it, but I think after 7 years it hasn’t really aged well. I’ll continue to use it, as I did pay a pretty penny for it, however I think for the price range (and even cheaper) you can find better foundations that look better, last longer, and feel lighter on the skin. ![]() I don’t dislike the YSL Touche Éclat Foundation, but I don’t really see myself repurchasing it. I first blamed it on the high humidity levels, but even in the nighttime, it still felt like I was wearing foundation- a characteristic that I don’t find often nowadays in newer, high-end foundations with similar coverage. I wore this foundation almost every day on my vacation in Florida, and it felt heavy. That usually means I have to powder to set it, or else it won’t ever really set itself. Also, something interesting to note is that while it isn’t the heaviest foundation I’ve worn, it is a bit more tacky than other similar foundations I have. However, like I mentioned, I have dry skin, and I don’t see it lasting that long on someone with oilier skin. YSL claims the foundation lasts around 8 hours and I would agree with that. Now, you all now I strongly advocate good skin health anyways, under any foundation, but I can’t really see this foundation achieving the amazing, awakening, radiant finish it advertises unless someone was willing to use all those extra products beforehand. The only time I was ever like, wow I really like how this looks, was when I slathered myself with a super hydrating mask, a hydrating serum, and a thick moisturizer. That’s not to say I don’t enjoy the finish of the YSL Touche Éclat, however, you definitely need great skin to fully enjoy it. It reminds me of the Estee Lauder Double Wear, however in terms of overall coverage and finish, I enjoy the Estee Lauder DW way more. I was expecting this foundation to be super duper glowy and dewy, but really, it’s just sort of semi-matte. It is important to note thought that I have dry skin, so I can predict that there might be separation for someone with oilier skin. With the beauty blender, I’ve been able to achieve smooth, even results without it separating. I opted for a beauty blender, because its consistency is quite thick. Formulated with SPF 22 to provide sun protection, it leaves a weightless finish while offering eight hours of a refreshed, radiant look.įor the past 3 weeks, I’ve been using a damp beauty blender to apply this foundation. Vitamin E protects against free radicals. A bestselling foundation, now in an advanced formula, that reduces the look of fatigue and creates flawless medium coverage.Įnriched with the stimulating power of Ruscus Extract, the anti-fatigue formula energizes skin by stimulating micro-circulation and targeting dullness to instantly improve skin brightness and luminosity. ![]()
